The wine that travels on a barge
From Costières de Nîmes to Paris via the canals! Every end of summer for ten years, it’s the same ritual. Coming up from the south, the barge “Remises à flots” moors in the Gard where it takes on board several boxes of the Bien luné vintage from Terre des Chardons, a biodynamic estate located in Bellegarde, in the heart of Costières de Nîmes.
Thus loaded with wine but also with honey, olive oil, cheeses, fruit juice, cured meats, rice and cosmetic or maintenance products resulting from an eco-responsible approach, the barge, managed by a transport support association river, then heads for Paris where it is expected during the fall.
In the meantime, along the way, the boatmen deliver, according to stopovers scheduled in advance, the consumers of a city or a territory, grouped in AMAP or purchasing cooperatives, in a logic of support for the circuits short.
“Each year, we ship around a thousand bottles in this way to customers who have become loyal to us,” explains Olivier Zohar, the cellar master of the estate, sensitive to a philosophy “which brings the consumer closer to the producer and which values production methods that respect the environment and people.”

Bien luné (Good mood), the wine with an evocative name
“It is a wine, made from biodynamic viticulture, very supple and very aromatic, with floral notes, exotic fruits and smoke. Come summer, we will drink it with grilled meats or exotic dishes, particularly Asian.”
